Miami Hotel2010
Survival of the Beautiful.
The Perry Hotel is a concept design for a new hotel in Miami. We were commissioned to develop two quick views showcasing the Lobby reception and one of the Lounge areas. For this project I was lucky that the client was a dear friend of mine which turned out to be a very pleasent experience. It is always fun to work with clients that have great taste and good ideas. Their design brief was full of beautiful inspiration images and a few concept renderings. All and all I was most intrigued by the simplicity of their color pallete. Even though, we understood the client wanted something very glamorous, we knew the color and materials call for a more minimalist and elegent approach.
Delving into, exploring and celebrating the symbiotic relationship between beauty and nature was the departure point for A|I Design Lab's proposed interior of the Perry Hotel.
Nature has a penchant to evolve beauty. After Darwin's famous theory of "survival of the fittest", he introduced a lesser-known idea of why a species will choose a mate. The peacock's elaborate plumage has not other function other than the fact that females have evolved to like it. This selection process suggests that all species have an innate appreciation for beauty - and what the sources of beauty in nature might be. Delving into, exploring, and celebrating the symbiotic relationship between beauty and nature was the departure point for A|I Design Lab's proposed interior of the Perry Hotel | South Beach.
